What we liked
- + Controller offers 5 wave modes and adjustable flow, so current can be tuned for fish or plants.
- + Listing describes a pure copper motor and ceramic shaft, with sine wave drive for quiet running.
- + Runs on safe 12V DC, and the set includes the pump, controller, DC adapter and mounting parts.
Trade-offs
- - It costs more than a basic AC powerhead and needs an outlet for the adapter and controller.
- - Rated 1500 GPH at 6W, below the 2100 GPH of the model it replaces, so very large tanks may need more flow.
