Aquarium Volume Calculator
Enter the tank's inside dimensions and substrate depth. We estimate real water volume and the total weight on your stand.
Result
- Tank size (gross)
- 19.9 gal / 76 L
- Actual water volume
- 16.2 gal / 61 L
- Approx. filled weight
- 188 lb / 85 kg
Rock, wood and plants displace more water, so actual water volume will be lower. Heaters and dosing should use real water volume.
How this calculator works
Gross volume = length x width x height in cubic inches / 231 US gallons. Water volume subtracts the substrate depth and the gap below the rim. Weight uses about 8.34 lb per gallon of water, plus roughly 100 lb per cubic foot of wet substrate, plus the glass (estimated at about 1 lb per gallon of gross volume).
